Turkey's Gul says held fruitful talks in Russia, Tatarstan

Turkish President Abdullah Gul returned home after completing a four day state visit to the Russian Federation on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters at Ankara's Esenboga International Airport, Gul said that he held fruitful discussions to promote economic and commercial relations with Russia.

"Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev and I signed a joint declaration in Moscow to develop bilateral relations in all fields," Gul said.

"I proceeded to Tatarstan after my talks in Moscow and I was happy to be the first Turkish president ever to visit Tatarstan," Gul said.

"We had discussions in Tatarstan to promote the investments of Turkish businessmen," Gul said.

Reminded by a journalist about statements made by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Staff on recent comments uttered by the Israeli Ground Forces Commander Avi Mizrahi and how he thinks Turkish-Israeli relations would be affected, President Gul said that all statements in regard to this issue had already been made.
