Turkish IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation sent a cargo plane load of humanitarian materials to the Gaza Strip.
A cargo plane full of relief materials particularly medication and foodstuff set out from Istanbul for Egypt's al-Arish airport, the closest airport to the Gaza Strip.
The relief materials will be sent to Gaza through Rafah border crossing.
The IHH says is utilizing every way to extend humanitarian aid to Gaza. The foundation dispatched a plane loaded with mainly medication and foodstuff to Egypt. The humanitarian materials will reach Gaza through Rafah crossing.
The humanitarian aid packages containing medication, powdered milk and canned food will be distributed to Gazans, who are experiencing hard days under the Israeli operation.
"The humanitarian materials will reach the Gazan people through Rafah border gate. Our aid teams in Egypt are in constant contact with the aid teams in Gaza to organize the distribution of the materials," IHH Assistant President Yavuz Dede said in a press conference held just before the take-off the cargo plane.
Dede recalled the foundation has so far extended aid materials worth $1 million to Gaza and stated aid deliveries to Gaza will be stepped up. "Allah willing, we will send a ship loaded with 1.4 tons of humanitarian materials at the weekend," he added.
We as the IHH have been rushing humanitarian aid to Gaza since the Israeli strikes on the Gaza began, Dede stated.

He added, "The IHH delivered 450,000 new Turkish liras (YTL) worth of humanitarian materials such as medication, medical equipment, blankets and foodstuff to Gaza within several days after the Israeli operation began. Families of the killed and wounded Gazans were donated YTL 200,000. Lately, 13 tons of humanitarian materials such as medication, surgery tools, painkillers, bandages, injections, etc. were handed to the Palestinian Health Ministry through Rafah border gate. The Palestinian Parliament and the Health Ministry sent letters to the IHH, expressing their thanks over aid."

The Palestinian Parliament thanked the people of Turkey and the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation over the help provided.
"The fact that you stand side by side with your fellow Palestinian Muslims alleviates the hardships we experience," read a letter sent by deputy speaker of the Palestinian Parliament.
