Turkey's Istanbul to host junior grand prix skating
The International Skating Union Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating will take place in Istanbul on October 14-18, 2009.
Turkey will host a junior figure skating grand prix in October.
The International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating will take place in the Turkish city of Istanbul on October 14-18, 2009.
The "Bosphorus Cup" will be the seventh and last competition in the Junior Grand Prix events before the final takes place in Japan on December 3-6, 2009.
"This will be the first time such a figure skating competition will take place in Turkey," Fahrettin Kandemir, the chairperson of the Turkish Figure Skating Federation, told AA correspondent.
Kandemir said that the federation aimed to host the event in the best way and later host European and world championships in Turkey.
"Bosphorus Cup" will be one of the events in which pairs will not compete.
The grand prix will begin with a competition to take place in the Hungarian capital of Budapest on August 26-30, 2009.
Before "Bosphorus Cup", junior skaters will compete in the United States, Poland, Belarus, Germany, and Croatia.
The final will be in the Japanese capital of Tokyo, and will host both juniors and seniors.
