Turkey's Karamehmet may object ruling on new Turkcell president

Colin J. Williams replaced Mehmet Emin Karamehmet as President of Turkey's largest GSM operator-Turkcell.

Turkcell announced Thursday night that Colin J. Williams --a member of Turkcell executive board since 2006-- was appointed as Turkcell President.

Williams has also been serving as the chairman of Turkcell Audit Committee since 2006.

Turkcell thanked Karamehmet --still a member of the board of executives-- for his services in Turkcell's growth

Karamehmet, who ranked second in Forbes' list of the wealthiest in Turkey, was recently sentenced to 11 years and 8 months of imprisonment and 471.95 Million TL of fine by a court, for credit fraud in dissolved Pamukbank.

Karamehmet is expected to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court.
