Turkey's new envoy presents credentials to Israel

Turkey's newly-appointed ambassador to Israel presented his credentials to the Israeli President Shimon Peres at a ceremony in Tel Aviv.

Turkey's newly-appointed ambassador to Israel, Oguz Celikkol, presented his credentials to the Israeli President Shimon Peres at a ceremony on Wednesday in Tel Aviv.

Speaking at the ceremony, Peres said he would like to host Turkish President Abdullah Gul.

We are still expecting Mr. President to visit Israel. Our doors are "always open" to him, Peres said.

"We want our relations with Turkey to move on for the better," Peres said.

Turkey strongly condemned Israel, that killed nearly 1500 Palestinians, a third of them children in the 22-day military aggression in Decemcer 2008 on Gaza and wounded more than 5,00 Palestinians.
