Turkish Airlines (THY) signed a contract with CAE (Canadian Aviation Electronics) for purchase of 7000 series full-flight simulator representing the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
THY stated on Friday that CAE --a world leader in providing simulation and modelling technologies and integrated training solutions for the civil aviation industry and defence forces around the globe-- would deliver the simulators to THY, a Star Alliance member, within 2010.
The contract will renew the relationship between Turkish Airlines and CAE which began in 1997.
The Boeing 777-300ER FFS is expected to be qualified to JAR Level D, the highest standard for full-flight simulators, by the Civil Aviation Authority of Turkey and other National Aviation Authorities.
THY Director General Temel Kotil said that after the delivery of new simulators, flight training center would be further strengthened. He added that it would contribute to THY's becoming a global trademark.
Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, said that they were very pleased that Turkish Airlines selected CAE's new generation flight simulation solutions.
Being established in 1933 with a fleet of only 5 aircraft, Turkish Airlines is today a 4-star airline company with a fleet of 133 aircraft flying to 156 destinations around the world, comprising 37 domestic and 119 international destinations. Turkish Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance network which was established in 1997. Overall, the Star Alliance network offers 19,700 daily flights to 1077 destinations in 175 countries.
CAE employs more than 6,500 people at more than 90 sites and training locations in 20 countries. It has the largest installed base of civil and military full-flight simulators and training devices. Through its global network of 29 civil aviation and military training centres, it trains more than 75,000 crew members yearly. It also offers modelling and simulation software to various market segments, and through CAE's services division it assists customers with a wide range of simulation-based needs.
