Turkey's unemployment rate became 12.3 percent as of November 2008, Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) said on Monday.

Unemployment rate had been 10.1 percent in November 2007.

According to the TUIK's Household Labor Force Survey for November 2008, labor force participation rate was calculated as 48.4 percent.

Unemployment rate became 14.2 percent in urban areas and 9.3 percent in rural areas in November 2008.

The number of unemployed people in Turkey in November, 2008 went up by 645,000 compared to the same term last year and reached 2,995,000, told the Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) on Monday.

In November, unemployment among the Turkish youth was calculated as 23.9 percent.

The number of people with employment rose by 448,000 in November, 2008 when compared to the previous year and reached an amount of 21,315,000 people.

44.5 percent of all those employed in Turkey are unregistered employees.
