A Turkish author was jailed overnight pending trial on alleged links to a shadowy ultra-nationalist group, the Anatolia news agency reported Tuesday.
An Istanbul court accused Ergun Poyraz of membership in an illegal organization, obtaining classified information on state security, and unlawful private information on individuals.
Poyraz was detained last week at his home in Ankara on suspicion of links with an ultra-nationalist group uncovered when police raided a house in Istanbul last and seized 27 hand grenades and several detonators.
Three people, one of them a retired army officer, were charged over the cache and police subsequently detained more people, including retired soldiers, and seized weapons, explosives, and secret military documents.
The group is reportedly close to figures from the "deep state" - a term used to describe alleged rogue groups within the security forces ready to act outside the law to defend what they see as Turkey's best interests.
