Turkish companies employ 60,000 Egyptians, official says
The head of the Turkish-Egyptian Business Council said on Tuesday that Turkish businessmen provided employment opportunities for nearly 60,000 people in Egypt.
In an interview, Zuhal Mansfield, chairperson of the Turkish-Egyptian Business Council, commented on the recent visit of Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and an accompanying delegation of businessmen to Egypt.
Pointing to the problems faced by Turkish entrepreneurs doing business in Egypt, Mansfield said that the Egyptian government was ready to give all the support for the solution of such problems.
Mansfield said the visa problem affecting the Turkish and Egyptian businessmen desiring to visit each other's countries was recently solved thanks to the efforts of Tuzmen and his Egyptian counterpart Rachid Mohamed Rachid.
Mansfield also said that the total amount of investments carried out by Turkish businessmen in Egypt reached 1.2 billion USD, providing employment for nearly 60,000 Egyptians.
"Why are we doing such a thing when there is unemployment in our own country? Unfortunately, the energy prices and input costs have been increasing extremely in Turkey. We cannot compete in international platforms anymore," she said.
Mansfield said that cheap qualified labor force, low energy prices and the Egyptian government's warm approach towards foreign capital were the main advantages of doing business in Egypt.
"This opportunity should be evaluated well. Number of investments may increase even more in the upcoming days," she added.
