Turkish contractors' projects amount to $18 bln in 2009

Turkish contractors' business volume in other countries rose to 154.5 billion USD between 2003 and 2009.

According to the Turkish Foreign Trade Undersecretariat, Turkish contractors' projects amounted to 18 billion USD in 2009.

Turkish contractors' projects concentrated in Africa, the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Turkish companies undertook 74 new projects in Africa, 79 in the Middle East and 120 in the Commonwealth of Independent States. Turkish contractors also undertook 17 projects worth of 1 billion USD in Europe and 20 projects worth of 378.4 million USD in Asia.

Construction accounted for 32 percent of all projects of Turkish contractors in the other countries while transportation accounter for 32.7 percent, energy 11.9 percent, infrastructure 5.7 percent and industry 5.3 percent.
