President of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Monday that the "property" issue that would be debated under the full-fledged talks aiming to reunify the divided island of Cyprus, would be discussed within the framework of UN's principles.
Speaking at a conference in Lefkosa, Turkish Cypriot President Mehmet Ali Talat said that the debate on "administration and power-sharing" issues had been completed recently.
Talat said the "property" issue, which he described as the "hardest chapter", would be discussed now.
"It is a difficult chapter, because two separate property regimes have been created in both sides of the island during the last 45 years," Talat said.
Talat said that several basic principles regarding the property issue were determined by UN.
"These parameters were determined consequent to the talks that were held for years, international experiences, debates and evaluations," he said.
Talat also said that a solution would be closer when the discussion on the property issue was concluded.
