Turkish energy minister calls for alternative resources
Turkish energy minister said Wednesday that Turkey should explore and develop alternative energy resources in the face of skyrocketing oil and gas prices.

"Instead of watching negative developments in oil and natural gas as if we are hypnotized, we need to turn to other resources, and most of all nuclear energy, renewable resources and energy efficiency," Hilmi Guler told an Istanbul conference of the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE).

Guler also said oil prices climbed in five and a half years from 20 USD to 140 USD per barrel, which he said could be a major turning point in exploring new energy resources.
