The Turkish Engine Inc. (TEI) grew 25 percent in 2008 over 2007, the director general said on Tuesday.

"We had a turnover of 310 million USD in 2008, Akin Duman, the director general of the Eskisehir-based company, told AA correspondent.

The company earned some 247 million USD from its sales in 2007.

"Our company is competing with leading engine producers in the world in manufacturing aircraft engine parts," Duman said.

Duman forecast a busy year for TEI when several ongoing projects were taken into consideration, but also said that the company had to be careful when carrying out those projects.

Founded in 1985, TEI started assembling engines and manufacturing test parts in 1987.

The company undertook A400M-TP400 production project in 2003, and JSF-F136 production project in 2004.

In 2005, the company had sales over 100 million USD and it became a global engineering center in 2006.
