A high criminal court in Istanbul decided on Monday that prosecutors carrying out the Ergenekon investigation shall be asked to examine the phone conversations and bank accounts of Ali Oz, who was in charge of the provincial gendarmerie forces in the Black sea city of Trabzon during the assassination of Hrant Dink, the editor-in-chief of Turkish-Armenian weekly Agos.
The High Criminal Court no 14 of Istanbul decided that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul shall be asked in writing to take action for the "determination of the phone conversations of Oz" and "for the assignment of the prosecutors in charge of Ergenekon investigation to examine his bank accounts" in an effort to bring to light the organized structure behind the killing of Hrant Dink.
The court also said that the High Criminal Court no 13 of Istanbul shall be asked in writing to deliver as proof the HTS reports and digital recordings of the phone numbers belonging to the suspects of Ergenekon case in order to determine whether there was a connection between the suspects of the Hrant Dink case and Ergenekon.
During Monday's trial, the court also decided to release suspects Mustafa Ozturk, Zeynel Abidin Yavuz and Tuncay Uzundal.
The upcoming hearing of the Hrant Dink case will be held on April 20.
