The Turkish finance minister started walking and breathing exercises on Thursday after a by-pass surgery, his son said.

Turkey's Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan started walking and breathing exercises after a by-pass surgery in Cleveland, the United States, his son Abdullah Unakitan told AA correspondent.

Minister Kemal Unakitan underwent a by-pass surgery on Monday in a hospital in Cleveland city in the United States.

Unakitan undertook a diagnostic angiocardiography on February 1, and was discharged from a teaching hospital in the Turkish capital of Ankara on February 8.

The minister went to Cleveland with his family on February 10 for treatment.

Abdullah Unakitan said that the surgery was successful, and his father was stable.

Minister Unakitan had been in a rapid recovery process, Abdullah Unakitan said.

Abdullah Unakitan said that he did not know when doctors would discharge his father from hospital.
