Turkish FM hold talks in Uganda OIC meeting

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, who is currently in Uganda to attend the 35th meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), has held a series of talks.

Babacan, who held meetings with his Indonesian, Malaysian and Pakistani counterparts on Wednesday, had talks with foreign ministers of Iran, Chad and Mauritania on Thursday.

He also had a meeting with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.

Officials said Babacan discussed Turkey's regional power and effective role in his meetings with foreign ministers of Indonesia, Pakistan and Chad.

Foreign minister of Pakistan told Babacan that they wanted Afghanistan to have stability. Babacan said Turkey would do its utmost for improvement of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Chadian FM told Babacan that Turkey had the power to help settlement of peace in the region.
