"Sending there our troops is a sensitive issue that needs thorough assessment. I don't want to jump to a quick judgement, but I think the odds are quite slim," Babacan told a televised interview on Turkish NTV.

Babacan said Turkey might send a civilian team to Gaza if such a request was made for a monitoring mission to check if the terms of the truce were followed.

The Turkish foreign minister said there were no changes in regard to Turkey's position on Israel's latest military offensive on Gaza, adding that it was quite natural that Turkey had reacted severely against the Israeli operation which he said resorted to use of disproportional force.

Israel killed more than 1,300 Palestinians, a third of them children in the 22-day military aggression on Gaza and wounded 5,300 Palestinians, and Gaza infrastructure suffered massive damage totaling some 476 million dollars, according to Palestinian medics and officials.
