Turkish, Greek Cyprus leaders meet under extensive talks

Turkish Cypriot President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias met Wednesday under the extensive talks --aiming at finding a lasting solution to the Cyprus issue--, and exchanged views on the topic of ownership.

The two leaders did not make a statement after the 4 hour meeting.

UN Secretary General's Special Representative in Cyprus, Taye Brook Zerihoun, told reporters after the meeting that parties declared their positions regarding the proposals presented by the other party in the previous meeting.

Zerihoun said the two leaders would continue to discuss "ownership" issue next week adding that their representatives Ozdil Nami and Yorgos Yakovu would remeet Wednesday to support the efforts of their leaders.

Zerihoun said UN SG's Special Adviser on Cyprus, Alexander Downer, arrived in Cyprus earlier in the day and would attend the next meeting between Talat and Christofias on February 12th.
