Turkish businessmen aim at boosting cooperation with Syria, an important trade and economy partner of Turkey.

Turkish minister, businessmen to visit Syria
A Turkish minister and a delegation of businessmen will pay a visit to Syria, authorities said on Thursday.

Turkey's State Minister Kursad Tuzmen for foreign trade and a delegation of businessmen will visit Syrian capital of Damascus between February 16 and 18.

Turkish businessmen, seeking the ways to increase exports due to the global economic crisis, aim at boosting cooperation with Syria, an important trade and economy partner of Turkey.

Turkish exports to Syria were up 39.5 percent in 2008, and reached 1.1 billion USD. Turkey aims to have a foreign trade worth 2.5 billion USD with Syria in 2009.

According to figures of the Foreign Trade Undersecretariat, Syria was the 24th among the first 40 countries Turkey exported its goods in 2008. Below are Turkish exports to Syria in the last five years:
