Turkish Agriculture & Rural Affairs Minister Mehdi Eker attended Tuesday a UN conference held in Madrid against global food crisis.
Addressing the conference, Eker said that the hunger problem in the world could be mitigated thanks to efficient, effective and simple solutions.
Eker said results of fight against famine revealed that "there were something missing" in these activities despite all efforts.
"In fact, the solution is quite simple. But there is trouble in the management of the problem. A constructive, efficient and sustainable policy which would include not only governments but also international organizations, non-governmental organizations and the private sector, is needed," Eker said.
Eker also said that Turkey provided 600 million USD of aid to developing countries in 2007, pledging that this amount would increase.
