Turkish State Minister Cevdet Yilmaz arrived Tuesday in Gothenburg, Sweden, to attend a European Union meeting which is set to discuss the Lisbon Strategy and the Union's enlargement policy for 2010.

The Turkish minister met with EU term president Sweden's EU affairs minister Cecilia Malmstrom ahead of session on economic growth and employment policy in Europe.

Cabinet members and local authorities from 26 EU member and candidate countries are participating in the meeting.

"As a candidate country, we will have the opportunity during the meetings to listen to the issues discussed here and learn from them," Yilmaz told the Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish minister is expected to return to Turkey on Wednesday.
