Turkish Minister says Turks have many problems in Nederlands

Turkish Minister of Justice Mehmet Ali Sahin separately met with his Dutch counterpart Ernst Hirsch Ballin, Dutch State Minister in charge of foreigners policy and prisons Nebahat Albayrak and Dutch Interior and Kingdom Relations Guusje Ter Horst on Thursday.

Sahin met Ballin and Albayrak over a working lunch which lasted around two hours. A joint press conference followed the working lunch.

"The justice ministries of Turkey and the Netherlands cooperate in a way that is looked upon as a role model for other countries. We had very fruitful discussions to carry our relations further," Sahin said.

"Certain difficulties that are met by the Turkish community in the Netherlands came up during our talks. We noticed that various problems get generated by lack of dialogue and failure to understand each other," Sahin said.

"The meetings at the consulate level in March will bring down the number of problems encountered by the Turkish community," Sahin said.

"Turkey is a country with which the Netherlands has close cooperation in the area of justice," Ballin said.

"We share common stance on criminal cases, extradition of criminals, problems encountered by individuals who have dual citizenship, illegal drug trafficking and organized crime as well as terrorist incidents," Ballin said.

Albayrak, on her part, said that they welcomed Turkey's efforts to improve conditions in Turkish prisons.
