Turkish State Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis visited a church and a synagogue in Istanbul on Tuesday.

Bagis, who visited Hagia Strati Greek Orthodox Church in Arnavutkoy district, received information about the church.

Minister Bagis told reporters that Turkey was now in local elections period; and it was a duty to visit the church of Greeks who had been living together with Turks for hundreds of years.

Later, Bagis proceeded to Etz Ahayim Jewish Synagogue in Ortakoy district and met with representatives of Jewish community.

Bagis told reporters that he asked for the support of Jewish community in the local elections.
