Turkish movie expected to be nominated among Oscar's five

Turkish movie "Uc Maymun" (Three Monkeys) by Nuri Bilge Ceylan should be included among the five movies nominated for the Oscar in the foreign-language category, an official from the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry said on Tuesday.
Abdurrahman Celik, copyrights and cinema director general of the ministry, told the A.A correspondent that "Three Monkeys" was listed among nine others nominated for the Oscar in the foreign-language category, which was a great achievement.
"By January 22 the first five will be made public. I think that it (Three Monkeys) will be included among them," Celik said.
"Three Monkeys" by Nuri Bilge Ceylan won the best director award winner at the 61st Cannes film festival in May 2008.
The film stars Yavuz Bingol, Hatice Aslan, Ahmet Rifat Sungar, Ercan Kesal, Cafer Kose and Gurkan Aydin.
Other films in the running include Israel's "Waltz with Bashir," Germany's "The Baader Meinhof Complex," France's "The Class," and Japanese director Yojiro Takita's "Departures."
Jan Troell's "Everlasting Moments" will represent Sweden while from Mexico, Roberto Sneider's "Tear This Heart Out" is in the running.
The other entries are Austria's "Revanche" and Canada's "The Necessities of Life".
