Two Turkish aid organizations - the İHH and Deniz Feneri (Lighthouse) -- have kicked off campaigns to send immediate humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, severely hit by the Israeli attacks, Today's Zaman reported.
As part of the campaigns, the İHH will bring many wounded Palestinians to Turkey for treatment.
"We will not remain silent in the face of Israeli violence. We have always positioned ourselves on the side of Palestinians. We want our helpful public to contribute to our campaign. The Palestinians need us. We have to show the world that Gazans are not alone," stated İHH head Yıldırım.
The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) also sent trucks full of humanitarian aid packages to Gaza yesterday. More trucks will be sent to Palestine in the days ahead.
Kızılay Director General Ömer Taşlı said the world is witnessing a great shaming of humanity in the Gaza Strip. "We expect our trucks to reach Gaza in five days. We have been negotiating with Israel for the past 15 days to send humanitarian aid to Palestine. It will be difficult for our trucks to enter Gaza, but we will try all possible ways. We will do our best to extend a helping hand to the Palestinians," he stated.
Almost 300 Palestinians have been killed since Israel began the offensive on Saturday.
