Turkish plane lands at Togo airport over technical failure

The Turkish Airlines (THY) passenger plane bound from Istanbul to Nigeria has been forced to land at Lome Airport in Togo due to a technical failure.

The Airbus 310 took off from Istanbul's Ataturk Airport at 3.25 p.m. on August 14th with 182 passengers on board.

Its navigation and communication systems were broken as the plane was getting ready to land at the Lagos Airport in Nigeria. The plane could not land because of the lack of landing system at the airport.

The pilot diverted the plane to Togo and succeeded in landing at the Lome Airport at 00:45 a.m.

After technicians fixed the failure in its navigation and communication systems, the plane left the Lome Airport at 3:30 p.m on Saturday and arrived in Lagos at 8:20 p.m.
