Turkish PM: 51 deals first milestone with Syria ties

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday today's Turkish-Syrian High Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting was the first milestone of a long road.

The meeting attended by Erdogan and his Syrian counterpart Muhammad Naji al-Utri ended in the Syrian capital city of Damascus on Wednesday.

Speaking at the closure of the meeting, Erdogan said that the agreements signed must be implemented so that a legacy was left to future generations.

We can look at today's meeting as the first milestone of a long road. We can cooperate in the fields of transportation, economy, commerce, security, local administrations, energy, water, environment, culture, education and urban transformation, Erdogan said.

Al-Utri, in his part, said that the discussions had rich content.

Our goal is to contribute to the economies of the two brotherly countries, Turkey and Syria, al-Utri said.

Following the closing session of the meeting, 51 official documents were signed on various fields, including energy, health, education, culture, security, economy and trade, local administrations, water, environment and transportation.
