Turkish PM Erdogan in Iraq

The two prime ministers are expected to sign an agreement on establishment of a strategic cooperation supreme committee to boost bilateral relations between Turkey and Iraq.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Baghdad, Iraq on a formal visit on Thursday.

Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, State Minister Kursad Tuzmen, Energy & Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler and Prime Ministry Chief Advisor Ahmet Davutoglu are accompanying Erdogan.

Tight security measures have been taken in Baghdad for Erdogan's visit.

Erdogan and the accompanying delegation will meet Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Prime Ministry building. The two prime ministers are expected to sign an agreement on establishment of a strategic cooperation supreme committee to boost bilateral relations between Turkey and Iraq.

Turkish ministers accompanying Erdogan will have bilateral talks with their Iraqi counterparts after the lunch which al-Maliki will host in honor of Erdogan.

Turkish delegation will later meet Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Meshadani.

Erdogan will later meet Iraqi vice presidents Adil Abd al-Mahdi and Tariq al-Hashimi.

Erdogan and the accompanying delegation are expected to return to Turkey in the evening after attending dinner to be hosted by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in his honor.
