Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Friday.
In a written statement, Turkish Prime Ministry Press Center said Erdogan who talked to Saakashvili on the phone, said Turkey has been monitoring with concern the clashes which killed many people, noting that problems should be solved through peaceful means in Georgia.
Erdogan said armed clashes, which started on Thursday afternoon in South Ossetia on continued today, should end and the problem should be solved through dialogue.
The statement said, "Turkish Prime Minister expressed Turkey's uneasiness over the clashes which claimed lives and underlined the importance Turkey has been attaching to Georgia's territorial integrity. Erdogan said the problem should be solved by Georgian and Ossetian parties in direct talks."
