Turkish PM says expects UN to take more active in Israel problem

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Ankara on Friday.

Erdogan told Ban that Turkey had expected UN to undertake more active role regarding the problem in Gaza. He said that Israeli soldiers should withdraw from Gaza immediately.

Erdogan also said that Turkey was ready to undertake all missions within the scope of the steps UN would take.

Ban said that UN closely followed Turkey's efforts in solution of the problem in Gaza, and added that Turkey's proposals and suggestions were important and appropriate.

Ban also said that he would continue his tours for solution of the problem in Gaza.

Following his meetings in Ankara, Ban departed from Turkey and proceeded to Lebanon.
