Turkish PM says Israel attacks blow to world peace

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Israel to halt its air strikes to Gaza.

Speaking at a meeting in Ankara on Sunday, Erdogan said that Israeli attack on Gaza was a blow to international peace and such disproportionate use of force could not be accepted.

The attack was also a disrespect to Turkey which exerted great efforts for peace, he stated.

Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement and strongly condemned the attack, Erdogan said.

"I also had talks with UN secretary general. I remind him that UN should launch initiatives regarding the recent incident," said.

"President (of Turkey) and foreign minister keep holding talks regarding the matter. We call on Israel to halt air strikes immediately. Turkey will continue to assist Palestinian people. International community should not be indifferent to it," he added.
