Turkish police finds buried ammunition in coup probe

Police have found rocket-launchers, grenades and ammunition buried in a field in Golbasi town of the Turkish capital city of Ankara.

Under the light of some information and documents seized in the house of Ibrahim Sahin, former chief of the Special Forces, police began excavating in a wooded area in the town, 20 kilometers south of the capital city.

During the excavations, police dug up rocket-launchers, grenades and ammunition.

Excavations are still under way in the area with the participation of a number of police officers.

More than 30 people were detained in raids across Turkey on Wednesday as police broadened the investigation known as Ergenekon probe.

The police operation was launched in six provinces, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Sivas and Tokat, after the High Criminal Court in Istanbul ordered the detentions as well as searches of the suspects' homes and workplaces upon a request by the prosecutor carrying out the investigation.
