Turkish Red Crescent told Chilean Red Cross that it was ready to extend all the necessary support to the country which was hit by a 8.8 magnitude earthquake early on Saturday.
Following the disaster in Chile, Turkish Red Crescent has immediately formed a crisis desk, the aid organization said in a written statement.
Contacting officials from the Chilean Red Cross in coordination with Turkish Prime Ministry's Directorate General for Disaster & Emergency Management and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish Red Crescent expressed its sadness over the disaster and stated that it was ready to help once the damage was determined.
A massive earthquake hit south-central Chile early on Saturday. According to initial reports, the quake killed at least 64 people.
The Chilean capital Santiago's international airport was closed down and the country's president declared a "state of catastrophe" after the disaster, officials said.
