Eleven members of a third-division Turkish soccer team have tested positive for the H1N1 virus, known as swine flu, a private TV channel said on Saturday.

The players from the Ankara-based Keciorenspor squad were diagnosed after complaining of high fevers, coughing and sore throats, the news channel said.

The athletes were being treated with anti-viral medication in hospital and at home, and Keciorenspor has canceled its weekend match, CNN Turk said.

Turkey has had 414 reported cases of the H1N1 virus, according to Health Ministry figures.

The World Health Organisation has counted 2,837 deaths from swine flu worldwide, it said on Friday.
