Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen invited Spanish contractors to Turkey, and said that Turkey wanted to cooperate with Spain in construction sector.
Tuzmen, who is currently on a formal visit to Spain, met David Taguas, president of Association of Spanish Contractors (SEOPAN), in Madridon Wednesday.
Tuzmen said that Turkish contractor sector earned 1.4 billion USD by working in foreign countries in 2002, while this figure increased to 20 billion USD in 2007.
Tuzmen said that there were 22 Turkish companies among the world's 225 biggest contractor companies.
Tuzmen said that Spanish contractors could visit Turkey in autumn this year. He added that Turkish and Spanish contractors could jointly work in Middle East, Gulf, Caucasus, Caspian Sea, Central Asian republics and North Africa.
Taguas also said that Turkey and Spain should make strategic cooperation not only in political area but also in economic and commercial areas.
Taguas said that they were exerting efforts to boost cooperation with Turkey, and the two countries could work in North Africa which had a big deficiency in infrastructure.
