Turkish, Syrian news agencies sign cooperation deal

Turkish and Syrian national news agencies signed cooperation protocol on Wednesday.

Hilmi Bengi, the director general of Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA), and Adnan Mahmoud, the director general of Syria's news agency SANA, signed the protocol in Damascus on the sidelines of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Syria.

Under the protocol, the two news agencies will exchange stories and photographs and cooperate in various areas.

SANA can make use of AA's news in Turkish and English and photographs, and similarly AA will use Syrian agencies stories and photographs.

The Syrian news agency launched news broadcasting in Turkish some time ago. The two news agencies will give technical and training support to each other.

Also, state-run Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) and its Syrian counterpart signed a cooperation protocol.
