Turkish tech firm produces engine oil with boron

A Turkish technology firm, operating in the northwestern province of Edirne, has produced engine oil with boron using nanotechnology.

In an interview with AA, Mehmet Can Arvas, director general of NNT Nanotechnology & Boron Products, said Wednesday that the threat caused by the shrinking petroleum reserves in the world encouraged his company to carry out a research on this issue.

"We are so happy that we have managed to put boron into the fuel tanks of vehicles thanks to the R&D activities we have been carrying out for years," Arvas said.

Arvas also said that the storage problem of hydrogen, which was known as a clean and environment-friendly fuel, triggered scientists to look for an alternative product, and finally, they managed to produce engine oil with boron.

Noting that studies on the issue took almost 20 years, Arvas said, "Our company has produced engine oil with boron for the first time in Turkey and the world. The product is put on sale with the name 'Nano fuel'".

Arvas said that the new product was being used as an ingredient to engine oil at the moment as the mechanism of vehicles were only suitable for operating with petroleum or diesel oil.

"Our company is also carrying out studies to develop vehicles compatible with boron," he said.

Arvas said that vehicles using engine oil with boron would be able to travel 300-350 km more compared to those using petroleum or diesel oil.

Pointing to the advantages of the new product as well, Arvas said engine oil with boron did not cause pollution, moreover, it was safe and easily transportable.
