Turkey's Ambassador in Ashkabad Hakki Akil said on Saturday that scheduled visit of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan, to Turkey would boost relations.

Speaking to Turkmen press prior to the visit of Berdimuhamedow, Akil said Turkey attached importance to improvement of relations with brotherly Turkmen people.

"Religion, history, culture, language, customs and traditions of the two nations are the same. This further deepens relations," Akil remarked.

Commenting on relations between Turkey and Turkmenistan on economy and education, Akil said trade volume between the two parties was 1.3 billion USD in 2007, and noted that Turkish businessmen undertook business, worth of 1.8 billion USD, in Turkmenistan in the first quarter of 2008.

Akil said Turkey granted scholarships to 4,800 Turkmen students in the recent years, noting that Turkish schools in Turkmenistan were successful.
