Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkish Language Speaking Countries (TURKPA), Ramin Hesenov, said Monday necessary steps were being taken to include Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan into the TURKPA.

According to the Trend.az news portal in Azerbaijan, Ramin Hesenov held talks with the chairman of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group and a Justice and Development (AK) Party deputy from central Anatolian province of Konya Mustafa Kabakci, AK Party deputy of north-western province of Istanbul Mehmet Muezzinoglu, co-chairperson of the Dialogue Eurasia Platform (DAP) Harun Tokak and DAP's representative in Baku Mustafa Saatci in a meeting in Baku.

During the meeting, Hesenov underlined that, aside from steps being taken to include Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan into the TURKPA, there are efforts being made to accept the parliaments of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Gagauz Autonomous Region, an entity part of Moldova, into the TURKPA as observers.

The TURKPA was established in a meeting held in Istanbul on November 21 and 22, 2008 and its members include Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
