"Regardless of votes they took in elections, requests to close political parties, which are indispensable elements of democratic life style, is unacceptable for Turkish democracy that has the experience of pluralist parliamentary regime for almost a century," TUSIAD said in a statement.
"Past experiences showed that closing political parties did not contribute to Turkey's political, economic and social problems," it said.
"What we expect from all political parties is to take Turkey away from an atmosphere that triggers polarization into an atmosphere of politics that produces projects of compromise and prosperity," it added.
