Two inspectors assigned over Ergenekon suspect death
Turkish Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Friday that he had assigned two inspectors to investigate death of businessman Kuddisi Okkir.

Okkir, who was arrested under the Ergenekon investigation in 2007, was released because of his health problems, but died in the hospital 4 days after his release.

"I have assigned two inspectors to assess whether Prison Directorate General, hospitals or doctors had any negligence about death of Okkir. I will make an evaluation after I receive the report," Sahin said.

An alleged criminal network that came to be known as "Ergenekon" was revealed after police seized hand grenades, TNT explosives and fuses in a shanty house in Istanbul on June 12th, 2007. Several Turkish figures were detained and sent to prison within the scope of the investigation.
