Two mothers apparently suffering post-natal depression after the births of their children leapt to their deaths within an hour of each other in Hong Kong, a news report said on Thursday.
Chung Po-ling, 36, who had given birth only days earlier, leapt to her death from a block of high-rise flats in the city's bustling Yau
Ma Tei district after a hospital check-up on Wednesday morning.
Fifty-five minutes later, 28-year-old Chan Chi-ying, who gave birth a month ago, leapt from the top of a three-storey house to her death in the city's Ta Kwu Ling district, the South China Morning Post reported.
There was no apparent connection between the two cases and police said post-natal depression may have been a factor in both deaths, the newspaper said.
Around 1 per cent of women suffer such serious post-natal depression that they can be a risk to themselves or their children, according to the Hong Kong Medical Association.
