Two teenagers stabbed to death in London

Police have launched murder enquiries after two teenagers were stabbed to death in different parts of London on Thursday night.

An 18-year old man was fatally stabbed in Leytonstone, east London, opposite Maryland railway station. One line of enquiry is that the death is gang related, the Metropolitan police said in a statement.

Police said the victim was knifed in the torso and was taken to Royal London hospital but died shortly after arriving.

Scotland Yard also said a 19-year-old was stabbed to death outside a service station in Wealdstone, northwest London, on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second 19-year-old man also suffered stab wounds in the incident and was taken to a west London hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

No arrests have been made in either incident.

The killings come after three boys were stabbed by a group of teenagers in a suspected gang fight in Chingford, east London, on Wednesday.

Last year, 28 teenagers were killed in violent incidents in London, most in stabbings, fuelling a national debate over youth crime, gangs and the state of British society.

In December, the government said a police crackdown on knife crime in 10 "hotspots" across England had led to a big fall in stabbings and in teenagers carrying weapons last summer.
