United States Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues Clint Williamson on Thursday called for handing over all Bosnia war criminals claiming it to be a priority for peace and security in the area.
Wiliamson, who is currently on a visit to Sarajevo where he met with members of Bosnia's tripartite state presidency, said he discussed with Bosnian officials the issue of handing over war criminals.
He urged Bosnian officials to provide information leading up to the capture of wartime Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and his army commander, General Ratko Mladic as a prelude to trying them by International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, the Netherlands.
He said Bosnia should cooperate with the US administration in hounding war criminals, specifically those two, who are reported to be hiding in the Serbian Republic.
He denied that Washington was ready to stop hounding war criminals in return for Serbia's recognition of the independence of Kosovo.
The members of Bosnia's presidency agreed that war criminals must be brought to justice in order to advance reconciliation among Bosnia's ethnic groups.
