US identifies three slain Qaeda leaders

The US military on Wednesday revealed the identities of three slain fighters in two recent attacks it said were leaders of Al Qaeda in Iraq cells.

Abu Tiba, Abu Harith and Abu Nahr had been operating mainly in central and northern Iraq, a military statement said.

Abu Tiba led a cell in the restive central city of Samarra and was killed on November 12 in a military raid.

Abu Harith was operating a cell in the oil hub of Kirkuk and was killed along with Nahr on November 21 near the town of Hawija, west of Kirkuk.
