US Occupation Forces Lose Many Soldiers in Iraq

The US occupation army said in a statement that nine American soldiers have been killed in the past 24 hours and three others went missing. Five of these soldiers died when their vehicle rolled following a flash flood on Sunday in the Anbar province. Two marines and a sailor are still missing. The statement also said that four soldiers were killed in the same province last Sunday, without elaborating.

Rice in London
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice left London heading back to Washington after a swing through Europe and a surprise visit to Iraq. She flew out of the British capital after briefing Prime Minister Tony Blair on her snap trip with Foreign Secretary Jack Straw to Baghdad. Rice came to Europe last week for talks in Berlin and Paris focusing on Iran's nuclear program and the settlement process in the Middle East.
