The U.S. Senate will vote on passage of its version of a sweeping healthcare overhaul on Christmas Eve, Senate leaders said.
The U.S. Senate will vote on passage of its version of a sweeping healthcare overhaul at 8 a.m. EST (1300 GMT) on Christmas Eve on Thursday, Senate leaders said on Tuesday.
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid and Republican leader Mitch McConnell worked out an agreement to move the vote, which had been tentatively scheduled for the night of Christmas Eve, to allow senators and staff to head home for the holiday.
