Sabotage is suspected in a two-hour disruption of television service to hundreds of thousands of Swedish television viewers.
Executives at network operator Teracom said it appears someone broke into Gotnet, a subcontractor in Gothenburg, and cut the fiber cables Tuesday night, The Local reported.
Teracom Chief Executive Officer Crister Fritzon told the television news program "Rapport" the matter has been reported to the police.
The outage, between 6:10 p.m. and 8:10 p.m., left viewers without access to television or radio broadcasts -- including the DN Gala athletics meet in Stockholm, a soccer game between arch rivals Helsingborg and Malma, and the grand finale of the popular entertainment program "Singalong at Skansen," the newspaper said.
