Vodafone Turkey agrees to buy Borusan Telekom

Vodafone Turkey has agreed to buy Borusan Telekom, a Turkish fixed voice and data services provider, Borusan said on Tuesday.

Vodafone will acquire entire stakes in Borusan Telekom, the company said in a statement.

Vodafone, the UK-based GSM operator, entered Turkish mobile phone market in 2005 after it won a public auction to purchase Telsim, for a price of 4.5 billion USD.

Earlier media reports suggested that the acquisition of Borusan will enable Vodafone Turkey to offer converged fixed, mobile and broadband services to compete with other mobile operators Turkcell and Avea.

As end-2008, Borusan had net revenues of 70 million USD.
