The world's tallest flagpole was erected by a Turkish company in Ashkabat, Turkmenistan.

The 133-meter flagpole was planted at a square nearby the National Museum in the Turkmen capital with fanfares.

During the ceremony, a giant flag of 1,837 sq.m. was hoisted on the pole that was constructed by the Turkish company Polimeks.

Attending the ceremony, Graig Glenday, Editor in Chief of the Guinness World Record Book, said that the flagpole would be included in the book's next edition as the "tallest flagpole" in the world.
